The League now has a television deal in place with the CBS Television Network as well as Velocity, which is a new network created by Discovery. In full, 20 hours of total programming will air with 7 hours scheduled on the weekends on CBS and 13 hours on Velocity.

Handling the on-air duties for the episodes will be Pat O’Brien and Ali Nejad. Fans of the WSOP broadcasts will know O’Brien since he has been on CBS in the past.

If you are a fan of poker TV or even if you just post a lot on a poker forum, you probably know all about Nejad. He has been the commentator/narrator on Poker After Dark since its inception, and he hosts Poker Road Radio, too.

Epic Poker League agreed to pay for their CBS broadcasts via ‘time buy’. Since they are paying the network to air the show, the episodes kind of act like infomercials.

The show will be produced by 411 Productions, which is no stranger to the poker industry. They produced the World Series of Poker for 7 years and will now head the production of Epic Poker League.

Five events are scheduled for Season 1 and the first will take place as early as next week. Each player will have to pay $20k to enter, but it’s well worth it since a handsome $400k will be added to the prize pool. The next three events will have an identical buy-in structure and added money amount.

The last event of the season is scheduled for February, and it will consist of a $1 million freeroll for those that make it to the top 27 of the league. There is a lot to play for, which should make everything very interesting.
